Kingfisher County 4-H members compete in County Food Showdown

Kingfisher County 4-H Food Showdown, Cupcake Wars and FCS Skillathon was held last month at the county fairgrounds.

The Cloverbuds decorated cupcakes as monsters, had to name them and tell a little story about their cupcakes.

There were six 4-H teams who competed in the Food Showdown.

Oklahoma 4-H Food Showdown is a youth culinary challenge where three-member teams compete to create a dish while demonstrating their knowledge in foods and nutrition, kitchen safety, equipment and creativity in food preparation.

4-H Food Showdown teams created their dish using only a clue, provided secret ingredients and items from the common pantry.

From the secret ingredients, 4-H members must identify, prepare and then present information related to the serving size, nutritional value and cost of the dish.

The winners of each category were:

Junior teams

1st place – Hannah Johnson and Teegan Wittrock, son and Teegan Wittrock, Kingfisher 4-H

2nd place – Evelyn and Kaitlee Martin, Kingfisher 4-H

3rd place – Grace LaBlue, Zoie Cox and Tinley Roberts Cashion 4-H

Intermediate teams

1st place – Madi Bragg and Rylan Burns Kingfisher 4-H

2nd place – Maggie Carroll, Kaiser Stout and Molly Mayes Cashion 4-H.

Senior team

1st place – Terry Ann and Makaio McCully.

FCS Skillathon winners

1st place – Evelyn Martin Kingfisher 4-H

2nd place – Madi Bragg, Kingfisher 4-H

3rd place – Maggie Carroll Cashion 4-H
