KINGFISHER, CRESCENT
KINGFISHER, CRESCENT and Guthrie were three stops Monday on what Republican U.S. Senate candidate TW Shannon is calling his “Don’t Give Up on America” townhall tour. He stopped by Johnsons of Kingfisher, along with campaign aide Griffi th Lamb, to discuss his motivation to seek the unexpired term of retiring U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe. Shannon and current U.S. Rep. Markwayne Mullin go head-to-head in the Aug. 23 GOP primary election. He offered the opportunities he’s experienced over the course of his lifetime as proof of America’s continued exceptionalism: “That a kid from Lawton, Oklahoma, could be elected as state representative before the age of 30, then be selected by his peers as the first African American Speaker of the House, then be named CEO of a bank and now be running for the U.S. Senate.” “I don’t say that to brag on myself but to point out that America is still a country where you can achieve your dreams, as long as you are willing to work hard.” Among those present for Shannon’s Kingfisher visit were, from left, Brian Walter, Elnora Yarbrough, Roy Fisher, Gary Reid, Brandi Ince, Pattrick Luedders, Karen Hall, Toni Pickle, Shannon and Glenn McIntyre.
