Kingfisher PD investigates incidents

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:

November 8 - Larceny of merchandise from retailer.

Officer Ryan Gibson responded to a report of theft from Walmart, 200 Starlite Drive.

A Walmart asset protection associate reportedly stated a female suspect had exchanged price tags on a vacuum cleaner as well as a dog bed to lower the price on Nov. 7 and purchased them through the self-checkout.

According to the report, the suspect was observed on video surveillance picking up both vacuums and placing one in her cart and a customer service representative discovered a vacuum with the bar code removed.

The suspect inadvertently left other items she had purchased at the self-checkout and she called at a later time to retrieve them, leaving a contact number with a Walmart representative, the report said.

Gibson said in his report that he called the phone number and after speaking to a woman about the items left at the store, she hung up and the contact number was disconnected shortly thereafter.

November 8 - Larceny of merchandise from retailer.

Officer Matthew Hollon responded to a report of theft at Walmart, 200 W. Starlite Drive.

Hollon said in his report he made contact with the Walmart asset protection associate who was unaware of a theft. According to the report,

According to the report, Hollon and the asset protection associate discovered the audible alarm sounding in the garden center and the tamper-proof tape on the door was damaged.

Upon viewing footage of the incident, a suspect was observed fleeing the garden center with 33 variations of Pokemon card packages, the report said.

The reported value of the merchandise was $363.34.

November 9 - False personation creating liability or benefit, expired license plates and transporting open container.

Officer Aaron Schlegel took a report from a 32-year-old male who reportedly stated he received a failure to appear notice on a traffic citation, but he had not been involved in a traffic stop or issued a citation.

According to the report, the individual had proof he was at work the day of the traffic stop and identified a possible suspect.

Schlegel said in his report that he recalled the traffic stop and that the driver did not have his driver’s license and identified himself as the individual now reporting the crime.

Upon observing the officer’s body cam footage of the incident, the individual confirmed the identity of the suspect, the report said.

Schlegel informed the individual that he would file charges against the suspect and contact the Kingfisher municipal court to have the previous charges dismissed.

November 10 - Larceny from the house.

Officer Dustin Brodrick responded to a report of theft in the 800 block of South Third Street.

Gary Overton reportedly stated his Beach Cruiser bicycle had been stolen from his residence.

Brodrick and Captain Travis Gray patroled the schools and residential neighborhoods in an attempt to locate the bicycle, but were unsuccessful, the report said.

The reported value of the bicycle was $125.

November 17 - Warrant, driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked, possession of dangerous drugs prohibited and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officer Aaron Schlegel said in his report that he was on patrol when he observed a male, known to him to have a warrant and revoked driver’s license, driving a Ford Bronco on U.S. 81.

According to the report, Schlegel initiated a traffic stop, placed the 30-year-old male suspect under arrest for the warrant and driving with a revoked driver’s license and transported him to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center.

Officers inventoried the vehicle and it was impounded.

Schlegel said in his report that after transporting the suspect, he checked his patrol car’s back seat and discovered a plastic bag containing a white crystal substance in the crevice where the suspect had been sitting.

According to the report, the suspect admitted to placing the bag in the patrol car.

Schlegel performed a field test of the substance, which produced a positive result for methamphetamine, the report said.

The suspect was additionally charged with possession of dangerous drugs prohibited and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officer Tyler Girten assisted with the investigation.

November 20 - Domestic abuse and battery.

Officer Jeffrey Robbins responded to a report of a domestic assault in the 1100 block of South Eighth Street.
