Kingfisher PD investigating reports

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:

September 7 - Eluding police officer, operating motorcycle without license and endorsement, unlawful carrying weapons, operating vehicle without proper tag/decal and reckless driving.

Officer Derek Grassman said in his report that he observed a northbound motorcycle on North Main Street traveling at a high rate of speed - 99 miles per hour in a 25 mph zone.

According to the report, Grassman pursued the motorcycle with the emergency lights engaged and the motorcycle continued to accelerate reaching speeds over 115 mph.

Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Wiebelt joined the pursuit on U.S. 81 between Kingfisher and Dover.

According to the report, the 18-year-old male suspect slowed down just south of Dover, crossed the median and surrendered in the southbound lanes of U.S. 81.

Grassman said in his report that he questioned the suspect regarding his attempt to elude officers and his reply was, “he was seeing what his bike could do and thought I (Grassman) would not continue to pursue him.”

Officers also determined the suspect had a 9mm pistol in his waistband, no vehicle tag and no motorcycle endorsement on his driver’s license, the report said.

The suspect was arrested for eluding police officer, operating motorcycle without license and endorsement, unlawful carrying weapons, operating vehicle without proper tag/decal and reckless driving.

Officers then transported the suspect to Mercy Hospital Kingfisher to be evaluated for medical clearance for incarceration and then to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center.

September 11 - Public intoxication.

Sergeant Justin Trumbley responded to a report of a disorderly person in the 400 block of East Erwin Avenue.

Trumbley said in his report that he observed a known 37-year-old female suspect “aimlessly walking in the street,” and exhibiting signs of intoxication.

The suspect was placed under arrest for public intoxication and transported to Mercy Hospital Kingfisher to be evaluated for medical clearance for incarceration and then transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center.

September 13 - Domestic assault and battery/ abuse.

Officer Kyle Svoboda responded the area of East Bowman Avenue and Rock Island Street in regards to a report of a domestic altercation which occurred in the 200 block of East Toronto Avenue.

Sergeant Charles Trout and Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Farrar assisted with the investigation.

September 17 - Receiving/ concealing stolen property.

Officer Jarred Tech responded to a report of theft in the 200 block of North Ninth Street.

According to the report, James Davis noticed his electric bicycle was missing from his residence, but later reported that it had been located in the area of College Hill.

Officer Christopher Mc-Daniel assisted with the investigation.

September 18 - Domestic abuse assault and battery, domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping.

Captain Travis Gray responded to a report of a domestic altercation in the 300 block of West Erwin Avenue.

Lieutenant Dustin Brodrick assisted with the investigation.

September 22 - No driver’s license (third offense), expired license plates and no insurance.

Officer Aaron Schlegel said in his report that he observed a vehicle with an expired tag and initiated a traffic stop in the area of U.S. 81 and Admire Avenue.

According to the report, the 36-year-old male driver was driving without a valid driver’s license and had outstanding warrants in Blaine and Woodward counties.

The suspect was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license and issued a district citation for that offense as well as for failure to comply with the compulsory insurance law and operating a motor vehicle on which all taxes due the state have not been paid.

The suspect was then transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center and the vehicle was impounded.

September 23 - Petit larceny.

Officer Matthew Hollon responded to a report of theft at Walmart, 200 W. Starlite Drive.

According to the report, an asset protection employee stated a witness had reported that a shopping cart was stolen from the far east side of the parking lot.

Hollon reviewed surveillance footage of the incident, but was only able to observe a blurry image of a suspect removing a shopping cart, placing it in the back of a vehicle and leaving the parking lot, the report said.

Hollon said in his report that he attempted to locate a vehicle matching the description of the one seen on the surveillance footage, but was unsuccessful.

The reported value of the shopping cart was $250.
