Kingfisher PD reports
The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:
May 6 - No valid driver’s license and DUI-liquor or drugs/APCV. — Sergeant Aaron Schlegel said in his report that he made contact with a 53-year-old male driver after he backed into a parking space at a restaurant not longer in business. According to the report, the suspect appeared to exhibit signs of intoxication and field sobriety tests were performed. The suspect was issued district citations for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center. Officers Michael Farrar and Kyle Svoboda, as well as Deputy Victor Diaz assisted with the investigation.
May 7 - Failure to register as sex offender, sex offender residing within 2,000 feet of school and harboring fugitive. — Officer Kyle Svoboda responded to a report of a 33-year-old male suspect, who is a registered sex offender, living within 2,000 feet of a park which violates the Sex Offender Registration Act. Svoboda made contact with the suspect and a 52-year-old male regarding his presence at a residence in the 100 block of South Fifth Street, the report said. The suspect was charged with failure to register as sex offender and sex offender residing within 2,000 feet of school. The 52-year-old male was charged with harboring a fugitive.
May 9 - Unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of paraphernalia, failure to wear seatbelt and no valid driver’s license. — Officer Michael Farrar said in his report that he observed a 42-year-old female driver, known to have an expired driver’s license, traveling northbound on U.S. 81. According to the report, Farrar initiated a traffic stop and placed the suspect under arrest for driving without a valid driver’s license. Farrar said in his report the suspect was also driving without a seatbelt and a search of her purse produced a plastic pipe, a baggie containing a white powdery residue (which field tested positive for methamphetamine) and a torch lighter. The suspect was also charged with unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of paraphernalia and failure to wear seatbelt. Sergeant Aaron Schlegel assisted with the investigation.
May 10 - Larceny of merchandise from retailer. — Officer Christopher Mc-Daniel responded to a report of theft at Walmart, 200 W. Starlite Drive. According to the report, an asset protection employee stated that she observed a female suspect “select multiple items, placing some into plastic shopping bags she brought with her into the store” and proceed past all points of sale and exit the store. The asset protection employee followed the suspect into the parking lot and was able to provide the officer with a description of the vehicle in which the suspect fled as well as her possible identity, the report said. McDaniel said in his report that he made contact with the El Reno Police Department and a Canadian County deputy regarding the 44-year-old suspect’s identity. The reported total value of the stolen merchandise was $159.25.
May 19 - Failure to wear seatbelt and DUI-liquor or drugs/APCV. — Sergeant Aaron Schlegel said in his report that he observed a northbound vehicle on U.S. 81 with the driver not wearing a seatbelt and initiated a traffic stop. According to the report, the 64-year-old male driver appeared to exhibit signs of intoxication and field sobriety tests were performed. The suspect was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center. The vehicle was impounded.
May 21 - Operate vehicle while suspended, denied, revoked. — Officer Jarred Tech said in his report that he observed a northbound vehicle on U.S. 81 with a nonfunctioning third brake light and initiated a traffic stop. According to the report, the 34-year-old male driver was driving with a suspended driver’s license. Tech placed the suspect under arrest for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and transported him to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center. An inventory of the vehicle was performed in which a container was located with a small amount of marijuana, the report said. The suspect was issued a citation for unlawful possession of marijuana and the vehicle was impounded. Sergeant Aaron Schlegel assisted with the investigation.
May 22 - Leaving scene of accident involving damage. — Officer Steven Renbarger took a report of property damage at 33 Express, 723 W. Broadway Ave. According to the report, the owner of 33 Express stated a individual backed into the gas pump and left the scene. Renbarger reviewed surveillance footage which revealed a company truck with an identifying logo back into the gas pump, the report said. Renbarger said in his report that he made contact with the owner of the company truck and attempted to contact the 45-year-old male driver, but was unsuccessful. Officer Justin Conner later spoke with the suspect, who stated he was unaware that he had hit the gas pump, according to the report.
May 26 - Operate/APC vehicle under the influence of intoxicating substance. — Officer Steven Renbarger said in his report that he observed a northbound vehicle on U.S. 81 traveling at rate of speed above the posted limit and initiated a traffic stop. According to the report, the 26-year-old male driver appeared to exhibit signs of intoxication and field sobriety tests were performed. The driver was placed under arrest for operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicating substance and issued a warning for the speeding infraction. The suspect was transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center and the vehicle was impounded. Sheriff’s deputies Victor Diaz and Isaac Lopez assisted with the investigation.
May 27 - Complaint. — Sergeant Charles Trout took a report regarding an accident in the 400 block of Industrial Road. Emma Stover reported her vehicle was struck as she was pulling into a parking lot and she exchanged information with the 22-year-old male driver, but he left the scene. Trout said in his report that he obtained information about both drivers and collected surveillance footage of the incident.
May 30 - Driving with license canceled/suspended/ revoked. — Officer Justin Conner said in his report that he observed a northbound vehicle on U.S. 81 with an inoperable third brake light and initiated a traffic stop. According to the report, the 40-year-old male driver was driving with a suspended driver’s license. The suspect was placed under arrest for driving with a suspended driver’s license and issued a warning for the defective equipment and transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center. Officer Matthew Hollon performed an inventory of the vehicle and it was impounded, the report said.
May 31 - Unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of paraphernalia. — Officer Kyle Svoboda said in his report that he made contact with a 28-year-old male and 38-year-old female at Oklahoma Park at a time when the park is closed to the public. According to the report, the male suspect had an outstanding warrant in Oklahoma County and was placed under arrest for the warrant. In addition to the warrant, the male suspect was charged with possession of paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine after a search of his property revealed a glass smoking pipe with crystal-like residue, which field tested positive for methamphetamine, the report said. According to the report, the female suspect gave officers a name which did not coincide with a driver’s license located in a search of the property at the scene and she was arrested for obstructing an officer. It was also determined that the female suspect had an outstanding warrant in Canadian County, the report said. Additionally, a baggie containing a crystal-like substance, which field tested positive for methamphetamine, was also discovered in the search, along with a pipe which had an odor of marijuana, according to the report. Both suspects were transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center. Officer Steven Renbarger assisted with the investigation.
