Kingfisher Police Department investigating multiple reports
The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports: November 25 - Larceny of merchandise from retailer.
Officer Aaron Schlegel responded to a report of theft at Walmart, 200 W. Starlite Drive.
According to the report, an asset protection employee stated that two female subjects had made two transactions at the self-checkout, but payment was declined on the second transaction and the suspects proceeded to leave the store with the merchandise anyway.
Officers reviewed surveillance footage of the incident and identified the two 23-year-old female suspects, according to the report.
Officers Justin Conner and Christopher McDaniel made contact with the suspects at a residence and they denied not paying for all the merchandise, but could not produce a receipt and questioned officers regarding “what they needed to do to rectify the situation,” the report said.
November 29 - Possession of credit card belonging to another and receiving cash/property with stolen credit card.
Officer Aaron Schlegel responded to a report of fraudulent use of a credit card at Casey’s and 33 Corner Store.
Kyler Gardner reportedly stated that he received a notification that his Cash App card had been used at Casey’s and, shortly thereafter, another transaction was attempted, but declined at 33 Corner Store.
Schlegel reviewed the surveillance footage of the incident at Casey’s and spoke with the clerk at 33 Corner Store, according to the report.
A charge for $11.05 was made for fuel at Casey’s and a $.75 charge for a drink refill was declined at 33 Corner Store, the report said.
According to the report, the suspect was identified and Schlegel attempted to make contact with the 30-year-old male suspect.
December 4 - Burglary- first degree.
Sergeant Charles Trout responded to a report of a possible burglary in the 600 block of East Broadway Avenue.
According to the report, the residents noticed a storm glass on the southwest side of the house had been torn off of the window seal.
Trout said in his report that he observed “that the window had been pried from the bottom and the screws had been pulled out of the wood by force and… the glass storm window appeared to have been thrown on the ground…” The officer took photographs at the scene.
December 6 - Grand larceny.
Sergeant Charles Trout responded to a report of theft in the 800 block of South 12th Street.
According to the report, Amber Demackiewicz stated that a Dixon zero turn lawn mower was missing from the backyard of the property.
Trout said in his report that he photographed the scene and made contact with neighbors regarding the incident.
The reported value of the mower was $10,000.
December 13 - Child endangerment, operate vehicle under the influence of intoxicating substance and failure to use child restraint system.
Officer Aaron Schlegel said in his report that he observed a vehicle with a defective driver’s side tail light, no third brake light and no tag lights on eastbound Broadway Avenue and he initiated a traffic stop.
According to the report, the officer detected an odor of alcohol and marijuana coming from the vehicle and the 34-year-old female suspect appeared to exhibit signs of intoxication.
A passenger and minor child were also occupants of the vehicle.
Schlegel performed field sobriety tests on the subject as well as a preliminary breath test, which indicated the presence of alcohol, the report said.
The suspect was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center, where a breathalyzer test was performed, according to the report.
Sergeant Charles Trout and Officers Justin Conner and Steven Renbarger performed an inventory of the vehicle which was then impounded.
According to the report, the child was not buckled into the car seat, nor was the car seat buckled into the vehicle.
Schlegel transported the suspect to Mercy Hospital Kingfisher to collect a sample for the state’s blood test and returned her to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center, the report said.
The suspect was issued a warning for the defective vehicle lights and district citations for a child restraint violation and for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicating substance.
December 13 - Arson- first degree.
Sergeant Charles Trout responded to a house fire in the 400 block of East Erwin Avenue.
According to the report, an individual informed the officer that a known 44-yearold male suspect had been staying in the abandoned house and would sometimes light fires inside.
Officer Kyle Svoboda located the suspect, who stated he had permission from the owner to stay in the house, according to the report.
The suspect also stated that he had been at the residence approximately two hours prior to the fire and “might have thrown a cigar in the burn pit (inside the house) while he was there, but he had no intentions of setting the house on fire,” the report said.
Officers contacted the owner of the residence, who stated he had allowed the suspect to stay in the house, but had informed him recently that he no longer wanted him staying there, according to the report.
Officers took photographs of the suspect and the scene.
November 30 - Larceny of merchandise from retailer.
Officer Matthew Hollon responded to a report of theft at Atwoods, 1213 S. Main St.
According to the report, a manager stated a male suspect stole several boxes of firearms ammunition.
Hollon said in his report that he reviewed surveillance footage of the incident and observed the 49-yearold suspect “clearly placing several boxes inside of his coat pockets,” then paying for two boxes of ammunition with a credit card and exiting the store.
The officer made contact with suspect, who denied the theft, but later returned 36 boxes of ammunition to the store, claiming his brother had committed the crime, according to the report.
The reported value of the stolen ammunition was $613.66.
