Kingfisher Police Department reports
The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:
March 16 - No insurance, expired license plates, operate a motor vehicle with fictitious license plates and receiving and/or concealing stolen property.
Officer Aaron Schlegel said in his report that he observed a vehicle with a defective headlight on U.S. 81 and initiated a traffic stop in the area of Hill Avenue.
According to the report, the 50-year-old male driver was driving without insurance on the vehicle and the tag on the vehicle was stolen.
The driver was issued a warning for the defective headlight and citations for failure to comply with compulsory insurance law, operating a motor vehicle on which all taxes due to state have not been paid and affixing a tag or decal with intent to conceal identity.
The license plate was seized as evidence and the vehicle was inventoried and impounded, the report said.
Officer Justin Conner assisted with the investigation.
March 18 - Domestic assault and battery/ abuse.
Officer Justin Conner responded to a report of an altercation at Mercy Hospital Kingfisher, 1000 Hospital Circle.
According to the report, a 24-year-old male suspect was arrested for domestic assault and transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center.
Officer Brandon Chapman assisted with the investigation.
March 20 - DUI-liquor or drugs, carrying firearms while under the influence, expired registration and defective equipment.
Officer Jeffrey Robbins said in his report that he observed a vehicle with a defective headlight on U.S. 81 and initiated a traffic stop in the area of Admire Avenue.
According to the report, the driver was unable to provide insurance verification and appeared to exhibit signs of intoxication.
Robbins performed a field sobriety test on the 36-year-old male suspect and placed the driver under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence and a defective headlight, the report said.
Officers inventoried the vehicle and located a loaded 9mm handgun, two loaded 9mm magazines, a 30-round magazine for a 9mm Glock pistol and 9-round magazine for a .40 caliber Glock pistol, according to the report.
The handgun and magazines were seized and the vehicle was impounded.
The suspect was transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center and was additionally charged with possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol and failure to pay taxes due to the state.
Officer Chris McDaniel assisted with the investigation.
March 20 - DUI-liquor or drugs, driver’s license required and transporting an open container.
Officer Brandon Chapman responded to a report of a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in a reckless manner on southbound U.S. 81 and he initiated a traffic stop in the 1800 block of South Main Street.
According to the report, the 33-year-old male driver appeared to exhibit signs of intoxication and a field sobriety test was performed on the suspect.
Chapman said in his report he also observed an open container of beer in the vehicle.
The suspect was placed under arrest for driving under the influence, transporting an open container of beer and driving without a valid license in his possession.
An inventory of the vehicle was performed and officer located an open can of beer in the passenger seat, a styrofoam cup containing alcoholic beverage and a box containing unopened beer cans as well as additional empty beer cans, according to the report.
The vehicle was impounded and the suspect was transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center.
At the request of the jailer, the suspect was transported to Mercy Hospital Kingfisher in order to be evaluated and receive medical clearance for incarceration, the report said.
Upon receiving medical clearance, the suspect was transported back to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center.

March 21 - DUI-liquor or drugs, unsafe lane use and defective equipment.
Officer Jeffrey Robbins said in his report that he observed a northbound vehicle on U.S. 81 traveling with its headlights on high beams and failing to maintain its lane.
Robbins initiated a traffic stop near Chisholm Drive and made contact with the 31-year-old female driver.
According to the report, the driver appeared to exhibit signs of intoxication and a field sobriety test was performed.
The suspect was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and transported to Mercy Hospital Kingfisher where a blood alcohol test was performed, the report said.
The suspect was then transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center and charged with DUI, defective equipment and failure to maintain lane of travel.
