Kingfisher Police Department Reports

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:

September 4 - No valid driver’s license, transporting intoxicating beverage or low-point beer and operate/APC vehicle under the influence of intoxicating substance. Officer Jarred Tech said in his report that he observed a northbound vehicle on U.S. 81 traveling at a rate of speed above the posted limit and initiated a traffic stop. According to the report, the 51-year-old male driver was driving without a valid driver’s license and appeared to exhibit signs of intoxication. Field sobriety tests were performed and the suspect was placed under arrest for driving under the influence, the report said. Officers performed an inventory of the vehicle and located a Miller Lite can approximately one-fourth full of beer which was cool to the touch, according to the report. The suspect was transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center and charged with driving under the influence, transporting an open container and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license. Deputy Michael Farrar assisted with the investigation.

September 5 - Public intoxication. Officer Matthew Hollon said in his report that he made contact with a 31-year-old male in the area of Clearview Drive and South 13th Street. According to the report, the suspect appeared to exhibit signs of intoxication. The suspect was placed under arrest for public intoxication and transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center.

September 6 - Malicious injury/destruction of property. Sergeant Aaron Schlegel took a report of vandalism at Sonic Drive-In, 1201 S. Main St. According to the report, an employee stated her vehicle was vandalized and provided the officer with the name of a possible suspect. Schlegel took photographs of the damage and attempted to contact the alleged suspect, the report said.

September 7 - Improper use of lane, failure to show insurance, failure to pay all taxes due state, unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of paraphernalia and possession of dangerous drugs prohibited- marijuana. Officer Christopher Mc-Daniel said in his report that he observed a northbound vehicle on South 13th Street drifting from one side of the lane to the other and crossing over the lane dividers. According to the report, McDaniel initiated a traffic stop and determined the 41-year-old male driver was unable to provide proof of a valid driver’s license or insurance. Dispatch advised the officer that the suspect had a bench warrant and the suspect was placed under arrest, the report said. Officers performed an inventory of the vehicle and discovered a glass smoking pipe which appeared to have a clear liquid inside and a crystal-like substance and golden amber substance on a portion of the pipe (which field tested positive for methamphetamine), according to the report. A quart-size jar which was half-full of a green leafy substance as well as a smaller jar also containing a green leafy substance were discovered, the report said. The suspect was transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center. Officer Steven Renbarger assisted with the investigation.

September 8 - Leaving the scene of an accident involving damage, reckless driving and malicious injury to property- over $1,000. Officer Steven Renbarger responded to a report a hit and run accident at Walmart, 200 W. Starlite Drive. Renbarger said in his report that he made contact with Cy Smith who stated his vehicle had been damaged in the Walmart parking lot and two witnesses observed the incident. According to the report, the witnesses provided a description of the vehicle involved in the incident, which had left the scene. Renbarger made contact with the suspect at his residence and took photographs of damage to his vehicle, the report said. The reported damage estimate to the Smith vehicle was $6,164.01.

September 10 - Domestic assault and battery/ abuse. Lieutenant Justin Trum-bley responded to a report of a domestic altercation at Holiday Inn Express Kingfi sher, 1708 S. Main St. 

September 15 - DUI-driver under 21, carrying firearms while under the influence, minor in possession of alcoholic beverage, transporting intoxicating beverage or low-point beer and transporting open container- liquor. Officer Steven Renbarger said in his report that he observed a southbound vehicle on U.S. 81 with an inoperable headlight and initiated a traffic stop. According to the report, the 18-year-old driver appeared to exhibit signs of intoxication and field sobriety tests were performed. The suspect was issued a warning for the defective headlight, placed under arrest for driving under the influence and transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center. Officers performed an inventory of the vehicle and located two opened bottles of whiskey, one opened Coors Light beer can and one opened bottle of Vodka, all with liquid inside them, the report said. A firearm was also discovered in the proximity of the whiskey bottles, according to the report. Officer Kyle Svoboda assisted with the investigation.
