The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:

June 27 - Domestic abuse assault and battery. Officer Tyler Girten took a report of an assault in the 600 block of West Bowman Avenue.

July 8 - Cruelty to animals. Officer Tyler Girten responded to a report of a dog locked in a car at the Holiday Inn Express, 1700 South Main St.

Girten said in his report that he observed a dog in the passenger seat of a black Pontiac G6 in the parking lot.

According to the report, Girten made contact over the phone with the dog’s owner and the 22-year-old male stated that he had left the dog in the vehicle while attending a funeral in another town, but was delayed in returning due to car trouble.

Girten determined that the dog had been in the vehicle for over 24 hours without food and water while the temperature had reached over 90 degrees outside, according to the report.

Officers took photos of the dog and it was taken into custody and placed in the Kingfisher animal shelter, the report said.

Girten said in his report the owner returned to claim his dog at a later time and was informed that the dog could not be released into his custody due to possible pending charges of cruelty to animals.

Sgt. Charles Trout assisted with the investigation.

July 9 - Public intoxication. Officer Christopher McDaniel responded to a report of an individual attempting to gain access to an outbuilding at a residence in the 300 block of South Fifth Street.

McDaniel said in his report that when he arrived the suspect had left the residence, but he located an individual matching the description on the corner of Fifth Street and Wyatt Avenue.

According to the report, the suspect exhibited signs of intoxication and was placed under arrest for public intoxication and transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center.

The suspect was then transported to the Mercy Hospital Kingfisher, where he received medical clearance for incarceration and was returned to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center, the report said.
