Kingfisher Rotary Club hosts 6 KHS seniors

Six Kingfisher High School seniors were guests recently at a meeting of the Kingfisher Rotary Club.

Joining the local civic group were Abbie Myers, Jancee Matthews, Xavier Morkes, Cash Laird, Presleigh Phillips and Gracie Rowan.

Myers is the daughter of Jeff and Candyce Myers.

She’s active in basketball, track, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, was a member of the twotime basketball state tournament qualifying team and earned second-team all-conference.

Myers is also a member of the National Honor Society and the Center of Family Love Teen Board.

She plans to attend college with the goal of playing on the basketball team and major in physical therapy.

Matthews is the daughter of Julie Matthews.

She’s active in softball, Student Council and earned all-conference honors in softball.

Matthews attended Chisholm Trail Technology Center where she earned a certified nursing assistant certification and was a member of the National Technical Honor Society.

She also attends Together We Church and Life. Church.

Matthews plans to attend the University of Central Oklahoma and major in interior design.

Morkes is the son of Wyndi Morkes and Tom Morkes.

He’s involved in robotics and is taking a college business class.

Morkes enjoys writing, drawing, cooking, reading and hunting.

He plans to attend a vocational program and pursue a career as an electrician.

Laird is the son of Leia and Jackson Price and Spencer and Tami Laird.

He’s active in basketball, tennis and is a member of both the Oklahoma Honor Society and National Honor Society.

Laird has also earned the 4.0 Award and attends Together We Church.

He plans to attend Oklahoma State University and major in environmental science.

Phillips is the daughter of John Phillips and Laine Merritt.

She’s active in yearbook, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Phillips attended CTTC where she earned a certified nursing assistant certification and attends Together We Church.

Phillips plans to attend Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.

Rowan is the daughter of Melinda and Jeremy Rowan.

She’s active in softball, track, is listed on the superintendent’s honor roll and was named Student of the Month.

Rowan was on the academic state champion softball team, has earned the Academic Award, 4.0 Award and three subject awards.

She is also a member of the National Honor Society and the Center of Family Love Teen Board and attends First Baptist Church Crescent.

Rowan plans to attend either Oklahoma Baptist University or Liberty University and major in global marketplace engagement.
