KPD investigating multiple reports
The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:
April 26 - Changed lane when unsafe, driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked, DUI-liquor or drugs, violating license restrictions and possession of dangerous drugs prohibited.
According to the report, Officer Aaron Schlegel responded to a report of a reckless driver on U.S. 81.
Schlegel said in his report that he observed a vehicle matching the description southbound on U.S. 81 at a high rate of speed and swerving in and out traffic and he initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle in the area of U.S. 81 and Starlite Drive.
The 27-year-old male driver was driving with a suspended license and appeared to exhibit signs of intoxication, the report said.
According to the report, a field sobriety test was performed and the suspect was placed under arrest for suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicating substance and for operating a motor vehicle while driver’s license is suspended.
Sergeant Justin Trumbley and Deputy Brad Logan performed an inventory of the vehicle and the vehicle was impounded.
During the inventory, an unlabeled pill bottle containing a green leafy substance residue was located and later field tested positive for marijuana, the report said.
According to the report, the suspect was transported to Mercy Hospital Kingfisher where a blood sample was obtained for testing and the suspect was then transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center.
Schlegel said in his report the suspect was issued a district citation for unsafe lane change, operating a motor vehicle while driver’s license is suspended, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicating substance and violation of driver’s license restriction.
April 28 - Failure to wear seatbelt, failed to stop at designated point (stop sign) and DUI-liquor or drugs.
Officer Aaron Schlegel observed a vehicle on Seventh Street in which the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and failed to come to a stop at the stop sign.
Schlegel said in his report that he initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle and, upon making contact with the 60-year-old female driver, observed the driver appeared to exhibit signs of intoxication.
According to the report, a field sobriety test was performed and the driver was placed under arrest for suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
An inventory of the vehicle was performed and it was impounded, the report said.
Schlegel transported the suspect to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center and an intoxilyzer test was performed, according to the report.
Schlegel said in his report that the suspect was issued district citations for failure to wear seatbelt, failure to stop at stop sign and operating motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
Sergeant Justin Trumbley and Officer Matthew Hollon assisted with the investigation.
