The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:

July 22 - Reckless driving, DUI-liquor or drugs and transporting an open container.

Officer Dustin Brodrick said in his report that he observed a Dodge Ram traveling southbound on U.S. 81 at “an extremely high rate of speed” and initiated a traffic stop in the area of Mitchell Drive.

According to the report, the 38-year-old male driver appeared to exhibit signs of intoxication and field sobriety tests were performed.

Officers searched the vehicle and located an open beer bottle, the report said.

The suspect was arrested for reckless driving, transporting an open container of beer and driving under the influence.

Officer Aaron Schlegel assisted with the investigation.

July 24 - Stalking.

Sergeant Charles Trout responded to a report of a suspicious individual at Atwood’s, 1213 S. Main St.

According to the report, an Atwood’s manager stated a female customer and a female employee reported recently encountering a man exhibiting suspicious behavior and their description of the suspect was similar.

The customer, who was in the process of purchasing a firearm for protection, told the officer the suspect had followed her in Walmart a few weeks ago and possibly followed her after leaving the store as well as another encounter with the suspect at the movie theatre, the report said.

According to the report, the Atwood’s employee stated the suspect had followed her while she was walking and appeared to be stalking her on another occasion.

Trout said in his report that based on the reporting parties’ description of the suspect and his vehicle and “his patterns of behavior,” he identified a possible suspect.

A photo of the suspect, a known sex offender, was shown to the two women and identified by both as the man who had been stalking them, the report said.
