KPD staff investigating multiple recent reports
The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:
January 20 - Identity theft.
Officer Derek Grassman responded to a report of identity theft at Kingfisher High School, 1500 S. 13th St.
According to the report, Officer Justin Conner, who is also the school resource officer, provided Grassman with a fraudulent unemployment claim which was filed in Taylor Watkins’ name.
January 20 - Public intoxication.
Officer Aaron Schlegel said in his report that he observed an individual lying in the southbound lanes of U.S. 81 near Oklahoma Avenue at approximately 6:30 p.m.
According to the report, Schlegel parked his vehicle across the southbound lanes to shield the 31-year-old male suspect from oncoming traffic and assisted the individual to the curb.
The suspect appeared to exhibit signs of intoxication and was placed under arrest for public intoxication and transported to Mercy Hospital Kingfisher for evaluation and medical clearance for incarceration, the report said.
After the suspect was released for incarceration, Schlegel transported him to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center.
Officer Justin Conner assisted with the investigation.
January 23 - Obscene/ threatening or harassing phone calls.
Officer Dustin Brodrick took a report of threatening text messages in the 200 block of East Fay Avenue.
According to the report, Brodrick made contact with the reporting party and the suspect.
January 24 - Domestic abuse committed in presence of a child.
Officer Jarred Tech responded to a domestic altercation in the 700 block of South Third Street.
Sergeant Charles Trout and Officer Kyle Svoboda assisted with the investigation.
January 25 - Burglary- second degree and malicious injury/destruction of property.
Captain Travis Gray responded to a report of vandalism in the 300 block of West Broadway.
Gray said in his report that he observed a vehicle with “a shattered front passenger window and a red brick laying on the driver’s seat.”
According to the report, the brick impacted the driver’s door panel and damaged the armrest.
Gray took photographs of the damage and seized the brick as evidence, the report said.
A $20 bill was also missing from the vehicle, according to the report.
January 26 - Warrant, driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked and expired license plates.
Officer Aaron Schlegel said in his report he observed a vehicle in the area of S.H. 33 and 13th Street with an expired tag and defective third brake light and initiated a traffic stop.
According to the report, the 38-year-old female driver was driving with a suspended license and also had an outstanding warrant in Kingfisher County.
Schlegel placed the suspect under arrest for the outstanding warrant and operating a motor vehicle while driver’s license is suspended.
The suspect was also issued a warning for the defective brake light and a citation for failure to pay taxes due to state and for operating a motor vehicle while driver’s license is suspended.
Sergeant Charles Trout and Officer Jarred Tech performed an inventory of the vehicle and it was impounded.
Officer Justin Conner also assisted with the investigation.
January 27 - DUI-liquor or drugs and expired license plates.
Officer Aaron Schlegel responded to a report of a reckless driver east of Kingfisher which was westbound on S.H. 33.
According to the report, Schlegel initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle in the area of Eighth Street and Don Blanding Avenue.
Schlegel said in his report the vehicle did not have a tag and the 36-year-old female driver appeared to exhibit signs of intoxication and field sobriety tests were performed on the suspect.
The suspect was placed under arrest for suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicating substance and failure to pay taxes due to state and transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center.
Sergeant Justin Trumbley and Officer Derek Grassman inventoried the vehicle and it was impounded, the report said.
