KPS board extends Glover’s contract
The Kingfisher Board of Education capped a three-hour meeting Monday by extending the superintendent’s contract.
Board members voted unanimously at their January regular meeting to extend the district’s agreement with David Glover through 2025-26.
The move came after board members met for an hour and 45 minutes in executive session to discuss the “annual evaluation and contract discussion” of the superintendent.
Glover was not made part of the executive session.
He was originally hired in June 2022, which capped a stretch in which Kingfisher Public Schools had three superintendents and two superintendent searches in just over a year’s time.
Glover was originally hired on a two-year contract.
That contract was extended by one year in January 2023 and then again on Monday.
His compensation package remains unchanged.
“I think he got us through a pretty rough time and helped put that behind us,” said board President Charles Walker.
Walker was referencing the civil lawsuit brought against the district and four football coaches in July 2021, prior to Glover’s arrival, by Mason Mecklenburg.
The district settled that lawsuit late last year.
“He’s also put together a good group of administrators,” Walker said. “And they have everyone working toward a common goal.”
Also during Monday’s meeting, the board made the annual move to determine next school year’s (2024-25) length by hours as opposed to the number of days.
The district has followed that determination the last several years.
In other moves, board members approved a financial advisory agreement with Stephen H. McDonald & Associates, the hiring of Reagan Roof as the new head football coach and certifi ed teacher (see related story) and the hiring of Kim Fisher as a paraprofessional at Kingfisher Upper Elementary.
