KPS board handles other routine business at meeting

Outside of extending Superintendent Andy Evans’ contract, the Kingfisher Board of Education made a handful of other moves during last Monday’s January regular meeting.

After an executive session that lasted 3 hours and 40 minutes, the board accepted the resignations of three support staff: Shaunyel Vasquez, an elementary aide; and Skye Donde and Debbie Bare at the daycare.

Those three positions were opened as well.

The board accepted Evans’ recommendation to hire Kate Henderson as a paraprofessional for the literacy program.

There was an item for the potential hire of a new high school secretary, but Evans said he didn’t currently have someone to bring before the board.

Shelly Watkins served in that position for about eight years, but resigned effective at the end of 2025 to take a position with the Oklahoma Baptists organization.

Contracts with Cherrydale for elementary fundraisers, Vicky Stone for physical therapy services and with the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center for functional behavioral assessments were also approved.

Also approved was the transfer capacity for each grade, which is required quarterly to be turned into the state Department of Education.

All five members - Brad Wittrock, Bill Reitz, Mike Copeland, Charles Walker and Dana Golbek - were present for all of the votes, all of which were unanimous.
