KPS board to hire admin staff at Monday meeting
The employment of the majority of Kingfisher Public Schools’ administrative staff for next school year will be decided this week.
Kingfisher Board of Education will hold its regular April meeting on Monday.
The agenda calls for an executive session to discuss the employment and compensation for five different positions: high school principal, high and junior high dean of students, junior high principal, upper elementary principal and Gilmour principal.
The position for Heritage principal isn’t listed.
Shane Hood currently holds that position, but announced last week that he’s accepted the superintendent’s job at Aline-Cleo Public Schools.
Accepting Hood’s resignation is a part of this month’s board agenda.
Expected to be recommended by Superintendent David Glover for the positions are those who currently hold them: John Harris at the high school, Stuart Purintun at the junior high, Erin Michael at KUE, Makylah Tollefson at Gilmour and Jared Reese as dean of students.
Among the other items on the agenda is one to potentially hire Stephen H. McDonald and Associates as a financial advisor “to assist the district in obtaining lease-purchase financing of equipment and other personal property.”
Glover told the board at a special meeting on March 22 that he wanted to bring before the board an option to go into a lease-purchase agreement in order to obtain artificial turf for the high school football and soccer field as well as the high school softball field.
There was an agenda item at that special meeting calling for a lease-purchase approval with a specific company, but it was tabled at Glover’s request.
The board meets at 7 p.m. at the BOE office.
