KPS board rehires staff, OKs other routine moves
While most of the 50-plus people in attendance at last Monday’s Kingfisher Board of Education meeting were there to hear the board’s decision on a settlement offer, several other moves were made during the regular May meeting.
Among them was rehiring certified staff members for the 2023-24 school year as well as approving several annual contracts and the annual temporary appropriations.
The appropriations are for 2023-24 and are prepared by the school district’s auditor Britton, Kuykendall & Miller.
They are required for any warrants the board expects to issue the next fiscal year prior to the approval of an estimate of needs.
Approved Monday were appropriations of just over $18.3 million in the general fund, $2.25 million in the building fund, $550,800 in the child nutrition fund and $448,248 in the cooperative fund.
After approval, the district has to file the application for the appropriations with the Kingfisher County Excise Board.
Among the annual contracts approved were: • Moore Therapy Service for occupational therapy services. Rates are $65 per hour during the school year and $70 per hour in the summer months plus one-way mileage. The district will also pay $125 per evaluation, $60 per re-evaluation and $30 per annual benchmark;
• Interbank to implement IntraFi Network LLC for placing deposits;
• Oklahoma State School Boards Association for annual membership for 202324 at a cost of $3,454;
• Horizon: Digitally Enhanced Campus for online content and professional development;
• Quality Choice Testing LLC for drug and alcohol testing.
Among the personnel moves were making appointments for different duties of administration office staff.Approved were:
• Dawn Tollefson - encumbrance clerk, deputy board minutes clerk and deputy treasurer;
• Pam Werner - treasurer, activity fund and child nutrition account custodian and board minutes clerk;

Board members Charles Walker, Carly Franks, Dana Golbek, Terry Payne and Brad Wittrock met in executive session for just over 100 minutes.
Upon returning, members voted to have the district’s legal counsel to inform all necessary parties of the board’s decision regarding the lawsuit against the district (see story in the May 3 edition).
