KPS board vote was 4 – 1 on contract
UPDATE
The vote to extend the contract of the Kingfisher superintendent was not unanimous.
It was reported in the Jan. 10 edition of the Times & Free Press that all five Kingfisher Board of Education members voted for the motion to add a year to David Glover’s contract.
The motion passed, but it was by a 4-1 vote.
Brad Wittrock cast the nay vote.
Although the vote was made in open session, those in the audience - including the Times & Free Press reporter and the minutes clerk - did not immediately see the “no” vote, which was cast by raising a hand.
Those voting for it were President Charles Walker, Vice President Carly Franks and board members Terry Payne and Dana Golbek.
The move, made after an executive session that lasted 1 hour, 45 minutes during the board of education’s meeting on Jan. 8, puts Glover under contract through 2025-26.
He was originally hired in June 2022 on a two-year contract.
That contract was extended by one year in January 2023 and then again last week.
His compensation package remains unchanged.
Neither Glover nor Wittrock commented on the vote afterward.
