Landowners say they were not notified by mail
Landowners in that area contacted by the KT&FP said they were not notified by mail, as required by law, about the disposal plans.
“My neighbor reads the legal notices in the Kingfisher paper all the time and he’s the one who told me about those disposal plans,” a landowner told the Times & Free Press after the meeting.
“We only had 30 days after that notice was in the paper to do something about it,” he added. (Those public notices were in the Sept. 10 and 17 issues of the KT&FP.)
Another property owner said he was told that town board members didn’t know about this issue until “the word got out about the (legal) notice in the newspaper.”
He also said he’d heard that a notice had been sent to the town the week before, but the person it was addressed to had been on vacation.”
