Latter part of week offers plenty of clouds, little rain
Rain clouds teased the county Wednesday and Thursday, but failed to produce the substantial rainfall pastures and crops need.
Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis recorded .07 inch of rain Friday morning from Thursday’s showers at the National Weather Service Station in Kingfi sher.
The Mesonet site at the Mueggenborg Farm west of Kingfisher recorded .36 inch for the last seven days and .07 inch as the total for the last three days.
Other Mesonet readings for the past week included Marshall 1.55 inches, Watonga .18 inch, Hinton .58 inch, Guthrie 1.36 inches, Spencer 3.75 inches, Norman 1.71 inches, Yukon 4.63 inches, Minco 1.19 inches and Chandler 2.15 inches.
Additional moisture is needed locally with the approach of wheat sowing season.
The local forecast calls for temperatures in the low 90s through the weekend and a chance of additional moisture on Wednesday.
Last week’s rain brought the Kingfisher total to date to 18.88 inches.
The annual rainfall average for the year locally is 35.68 inches, according to the Mesonet.
