Downtown Kingfi sher was fi lled with the Christmas spirit last Friday. It began with food, crafts, face painting - not to mention Santa and Mrs. Claus and one of their reindeer - at Block 35. That led the way to the Community Christmas Tree lighting at the corner of U.S. Highway 81 and State Highway 33 (pictured on the left). The lighting ceremony, hosted by the Kingfi sher Chamber of Commerce, featured holiday music by Virgil Bonham and Shilah Jerkins as well as drawings for free movie tickets to 89er Theatre. New City Manager Jim Thomas had the honor of lighting up the tree. The evening was also fi lled with great shopping deals at local downtown merchants as well as performances in the band shell in the newly-lit Newfi eld Community Park. [KT&FP Staff Photo]
