LIONS CLUB PROGRAMS – Bill Reitz updated Kingfisher Lions Club members on future plans at the Kingfisher Airport during a recent meeting of the civic group. Reitz, pictured above, is chairman of the Kingfisher Airport Authority, which also includes Tom Feagins, Randy Pritchett, Tanner Farrar and Mike Rosen. He provided Lions Club members a history of the airport from its establishment in 1945 by Irvin Bollenbach to its purchase by the city in the late 1990s to having a paved runway installed around 2013. To that point, Kingfisher County was the only county in Oklahoma without an airport with a paved runway. Reitz talked about other improvements and expansions as well as potential future infrastructure additions. “We’re really proud of what we have,” Reitz said. “We’ve worked hard for it.” Another recent meeting featured some of Kingfisher High School’s top performing track and field seniors. Pictured left, Braxton Mecklenburg, Ally Stephenson and Maximum Washington were guests of the club on May 12. Mecklenburg finished as 4A state runner-up in the high jump for a second straight year. Stephenson was a gold medalist in the high jump (for a third time) and long jump. She was the silver medalist in both the 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles. Washington finished fourth in the 200 meter dash.
