Local 4-H service project benefits foster children
Kingfisher County 4-H clubs worked this year on a service project that supported youth in foster care.
The Parents/Volunteers Counsel challenged each club to put together as many “bags” as possible.
The service project ran from Jan.1 to March 29.
The Kingfisher 4-H Club, Kingfisher Cloverbuds, Lomega 4-H Club and Mason McGee from Hennessey 4-H met the challenge.
They put together bags with closures that included, but weren’t limited to, toothbrushes, toothpaste, blankets, personal hygiene products, combs, brushes and toys/activity books/ crayons.
The bags where donated to Youth and Family Services Shelter in El Reno. The shelter is always in need of this bags and items as they take in children from all around the state, including Kingfisher County who come with no personal belongings.
The participating clubs will receive a pizza and a pool party at the end of the club year.
