Local burglary may be part of larger spree

Last week’s daytime break-in at Heritage Pharmacy in Kingfisher, where two suspects cut through a metal rear wall and spent about 48 minutes crawling through the store and loading a bag with narcotics, is one of about 30 being investigated by the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and federal Drug Enforcement Agency.

“We’re cooperating with them in their ongoing investigation, working our side and sharing information,” Kingfisher Police Department Officer Justin Conner said.

Thousands of individual pills were stolen during the 48 minutes two unidentified perpetrators army crawled through the store, scooping pill bottles into a bag they pushed in front of them.

Officers were able to piece together the sequence of events based on security video footage from cameras inside Heritage Pharmacy and on surrounding buildings.

The two suspects, plus a third person who acted as driver, arrived shortly before 7 a.m. in a gray, four-door sedan that may be a Nissan, which was left in the United parking lot.

After attempting to cut through the south wall and stopping when they hit concrete under the stucco facade, the two men moved to the east wall, where they disabled a outdoor light and then cut a hole through the exterior metal wall and interior drywall.

While in the store, they cut into an empty metal safe in addition to collecting pills, all narcotics which can be sold on the street, Conner said.

Similar organized pharmacy break-ins, where suspects cut through walls and stayed below alarm sensors have been reported across Oklahoma and in other states.
