Local donations help fund county’s participation in Imagination Library

Representatives of the Kingfisher County Friends of the Library and Hennessey Friends of the Library met to discuss a sponsorship to finance the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in the county. Once a parent signs up, this program mails an age-appropriate book each month to all children from birth to age 5. The program was established by Dolly Parton in 1996. The local funding is made possible by Kingfisher County civic groups, individuals and matching funds from the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Recent statistics show 1 in 8 children under the age of 5 in the U.S. receive a book from this program. Adults can sign up their child (birth to age 5) at either library in Kingfisher or Hennessey.
