Local firm wins county camera contract

Upon further review of the bids, Kingfisher County Commissioners on Monday awarded a local company with the task of providing and installing security cameras at the courthouse.

Glen’s Electric of Kingfisher was unanimously awarded the project during the commissioners’ weekly meeting.

The item was tabled the previous week after bids were opened.

TriCorps Security of Oklahoma City initially had the lowest bid at $20,728.29 while Glen’s Electric’s bid was $24,850.

However, after the bids were further dissected, it was determined the TriCorps bid would increase once all specifications and requirements were met and would be closer to $27,000.

Steve Richards, owner of Glen’s Electric, attended this week’s meeting.

While multiple bids were opened for that project last week, a bid opening for the application of chips and oil on 16 1/2 miles of county roads at this meeting wasn’t as fruitful.

No bids were submitted for the project, forcing commissioners to take no action.

That also led them to table the next agenda item, which was the bid opening for labor and materials for the aforementioned project.

Two bids were submitted for that: Ranger Oilfield Services of Hennessey submitted the lowest one at $310,800 while Coughlin Company of St. George, Utah, which has done work for the county in the past, submitted a bid of $376,000.

Since no bids were made on the project itself, commissioners tabled the action of awarding the bids for labor and materials until they looked at potential options for another bidding process.

Crossing arms are going to be installed at two county railroad crossings.

Commissioners voted to enter project agreements with a federal program for those installations.

One of the crossings is one mile north of Dover and then west of U.S. Highway 81 on County Road E700.

The other is just east of U.S. 81 one mile north of Okarche.

Multiple rights-of-way easements were approved:

• A water line for Ovintiv three miles east and three south of Kingfisher in District 1;

• A permanent gas line for MarkWest Energy in District 3, two miles south and two and-a-half miles west of Kingfisher;

• A steel gas line for Southern Star 10 miles east of Okarche on County Line Road;

• A water line for the Garfield Rural Water District near the county’s north boundary.

Other items commissioners approved included:

• Resolutions disposing of a number of items that were surplus;

• An oil and gas contract with TASC for the assessor’s office for July 1, 2022-June 30, 2023. The contract is the same as the current contract;

• A Local Elected Official Consortium agreement with Western Oklahoma Workforce Development Board;

• Transferring $75,000 from the health department’s maintenance and operations account to the personal services account.
