Local Girl Scouts troop embarks on Red Rock Canyon camping trip

Eleven girls from Kingfisher County Girl Scout Troop 424 took part in a weekend camping trip at Red Rock Canyon Adventure Park last Friday and Saturday.

The troop used money earned from the sale of cookies earlier this year to fund the trip, which included campfire cooking (with s’mores of course), hiking, swimming and tie-dying.

Due to storms in the area Saturday evening, the camping trip was cut short.

Despite the early departure, one Girl Scout told a troop Leader at drop off: “I had a blast.”

“For many girls in the troop, this trip was their first opportunity to camp and the troop hopes to have another camping trip in the fall,” Troop Leader Brooke Williams said.

Troop 424 will begin meeting weekly again after school starts in the fall, but is accepting new Girl Scouts (girls entering kindergarten through 12th grade).

Currently the troop has 30 enrolled scouts from all over Kingfisher County, ranging in kindergarten through the eighth grade.

For more information on how girls can join, parents/guardians can reach out to Williams at 405-517-2212.
