Lomega FFA holds annual banquet

The Lomega FFA Chapter celebrated another year of hard work, growth, and accomplishments at its annual banquet on May 14, honoring the dedication of students who are cultivating skills for future careers in agriculture.

The annual awards ceremony recognized numerous outstanding achievements within the Lomega FFA Chapter.

A total of 11 individuals were presented with the Discovery Degree. Among this group, Breckon Murray was named the Rookie of the Year in acknowledgment of his exceptional involvement in his FFA activities.

Additionally, 10 members were awarded the Greenhand Degree, with Claire Myers earning the Star Greenhand in recognition of her exemplary efforts.

The ceremony also highlighted the accomplishments of 13 Chapter Degree recipients. Of this accomplished group, Hadley Ott was honored with the title of Star Chapter Member for her outstanding contributions and participation.

The banquet served to celebrate the remarkable dedication and success of the chapter’s members across multiple tiers of achievement.

Their accomplishments stand as an inspiration to all members aspiring to reach new heights within FFA.

There were seven State FFA Degree recipients from Lomega FFA. They were Blake Yost, Kyte Yost, Abby Swart, Braxton Murray, Trevor Lentz, Traver Duffy and Alex Woodring.

The state-winning Conduct of Chapter meetings team was recognized with members being Brayli Walker, Addie Chestnut, Lasi Grabow, Whitney Ramer, Josey Nusz, Jackie Peneran and Claire Myers.

Addie Chestnut was also awarded the state winning Best Chair Award.

The chapter wishes them the best of luck at nationals.

Several members participated in public speaking this spring with two state winners and a state runner- up.

Abby Swart was the state runner-up in the Diversified Horticulture Proficiency.

Whitney Glazier was recognized for her National FFA Star in Placement achievement and spoke about her journey through FFA and winning at nationals. This is the highest award an FFA member can win.

Karen Swart was awarded with the Honorary Chapter Degree for her contributions and support to the chapter.

Finally, there was the announcement of the new Lomega FFA officers for 2024-25.

They are: Joann Bilger, chaplain; Isabel Hansen, sentinel; Saidee Wright, reporter; Chloe Meier, treasurer; Claire Myers, secretary; Hadley Ott, vice president; and Kate Myers, president.

As the night drew to a close, a sense of pride and accomplishment filled the room, motivating every FFA member to continue pursuing their passions with the same dedication celebrated at the banquet.
