March sales tax checks up for 4 towns, county

Four Kingfisher County municipalities and Kingfisher County received larger sales tax checks in March than in March 2022, according to the Oklahoma Tax Commission’s monthly report.
Hennessey, Cashion, Dover and Okarche all saw increases while Loyal and Kingfisher saw smaller checks.
There were some wide fluctuations for some entities, likely due to oil company contributions in some cases and to varying collection dates in others.
The March 2023 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from January business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from January 16 to 31 and estimated sales from February 1 to 15.
The disbursement of $179,233,891 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $15,948,389 from the $163,285,502 distributed to them in March last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $27,936,312.
In county returns, the counties shared in a $30,718,552 sales tax disbursement and a $5,456,196 use tax disbursement.
Use tax collections, comparing March 2023 to March 2022 in that order follow: Kingfisher – $38,783.69 and $56,718.79.
Hennessey – $26,373.96 and $12,787.56.
Cashion – $8,867.45 and $7,732.89.
Dover $3,946.65 and $5,654.67.
Okarche –$13,555.06 and $12,804.29.
Crescent – $8,830.63 and $6,520.61.
Watonga – $18,699.00 and $12,667.93.
Kingfisher County – $119,257.50 and 118,370.32.
Use tax is collected on purchases made out of state for delivery within state. Use tax rates are the same as an entity’s sales tax.
