Midship donates $10K for trees, playground
Midship Pipeline announced plans Tuesday to donate $10,000 to the Kingfisher Rotary Club and Kingfisher Trails to enhance beautification and help create an arboretum and Arbor Day playground at Newfield Community Park.
The gift was announced at an event in the 27-acre park taking shape west of Kingfi sher’s downtown.
The gift will help purchase trees native to the area to be planted in the park and is part of an $80,000 beautification and restoration donation to eight organizations in eight counties.
“Kingfisher is grateful to Midship for recognizing the importance of environmental stewardship and beautification,” John Gooden, president of Kingfisher Trails, said.
“This gift will allow us to begin developing Kingfisher’s first arboretum and the Arbor Day playground, which will both benefit our community significantly.
“Thank you to Midship for this gift that will help us create a beautiful park for Kingfisher’s residents and visitors.”
The Midship Pipeline, placed in service in April 2020, is a 200-mile natural gas pipeline that connects new gas production from the emerging SCOOP and STACK plays in the Anadarko Basin in Oklahoma to growing Gulf Coast and southeast markets via deliveries to existing pipelines.
“Midship is honored to make these donations to benefit some of the most deserving organizations in Oklahoma,” Matt Barr, Midship Pipeline representative, said. “Midship is committed to supporting the beautification and restoration of rural Oklahoma and this gift is one way we can show our support.
“We want to thank Keep Oklahoma Beautiful and each local organization for their efforts in helping us identify where the gifts can best be utilized.”
Midship worked closely with Keep Oklahoma Beautiful to pinpoint projects and organizations in each of the eight counties, including Kingfisher County where Midship operates.
Keep Oklahoma Beautiful also worked with Oklahoma Forestry Services to identify native tree species for each county to ensure viability and longterm health of the trees.
“Midship’s investment demonstrates their commitment to preserving and enhancing these communities,” Jeanette Nance, executive director of Keep Oklahoma Beautiful, said. “We are grateful for their support and generosity that will greatly enrich Oklahoma’s natural beauty.”
