An opportunity to unite as a community through pray and worship is the focus of this weekend’s “The Gathering” event at Newfi eld Park in Kingfisher.

Those attending can participate in a prayer walk, worship and the sharing of God’s word together Saturday, Oct. 5, at 6 p.m.

The vision for the event is to join as a community and pray over seven areas of influence in our community/ world: religion, family, education, government, media, arts/entertainment and business.

Following the walk, a time of worship will be held at 7 p.m., led by Southwestern Christian University, with words of encouragement from local pastors at the bandshell.

Sponsored by the Ministerial Alliance, the prayer for the night is to bring a spirit of “Unity in our Community.”

Those attending are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket for seating and come hungry as there will be food trucks on site.

Newfield Park is located at North Seventh Street and Admire Avenue.
