Month’s sales tax checks bigger for 4 cities
September sales tax checks were higher for four Kingfisher County towns and Kingfisher County, according to the monthly report of the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
The tax commission handles sales tax receipts and disbursements for cities, towns and counties, in conjunction with its responsibility to handle the state sales tax.
The September 2021 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from June business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from July 16 to 31 and estimated sales from Aug.1 to Aug.15.
The disbursement of $184,311,264 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $22,121,601 from the $162,189,663 distributed to the cities and towns in September last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $26,165,880.
In county returns, the counties shared in a $31,792,136 sales tax disbursement and a $5,199,011 use tax. disbursement.Comparisons of sales tax checks for this September and last appear in the accompanying chart.
Additionally, the tax commission issued a report on use tax collected and disbursed to local entities. Use tax rates are the same as each entity’s sales tax rate and is collected on merchandise purchased out of state for delivery within the state.
