Monthly Farmers’ Market to start July 31 in Hennessey

Hennessey’s town board approved a July 8 request to close Oklahoma Avenue west of Main Street for a Farmers’ Market.

That side street is west of the stoplight.

Hennessey United President Stacy (Grimes) Cline made the request and told the board the alleys on both sides of Oklahoma Avenue will be open to traffic.

She said the first market will be Saturday, July 31, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Cline said the plan is to have it the last Saturday of each month.

It will include everything from honey to produce and Made in Oklahoma products, she said.

They will also have it in August and September and maybe next year start earlier, if they have lots of participants, she said.

When asked why there instead of in the park or elsewhere, Cline said they wanted it in the center of town and it’s next to her store (Wellness Mercantile) and other Main Street businesses.
