More rain dampens harvest
Additional rain Thursday and Thursday night threw a kink in Kingfisher County’s wheat harvest.
Showers beginning Thursday afternoon held combines out of the fields, then additional moisture overnight further jinxed growers’ hopes to gather the ripening crop.
Only light harvesting in isolated areas has been possible.
Good yields and high quality grain had been the normal reports from the early-harvested fields.
Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis reported .6 inch at 7 a.m. Friday at the National Weather Service site in Kingfisher and the Mesonet site at the Mueggenborg Farm west of Kingfi sher recorded .73 inch.
The rain extended west into Blaine County with Watonga recording .8 inch.
