Most towns see higher October sales tax checks

By

October sales tax receipts were higher for most Kingfisher County towns and Kingfisher County itself, according the monthly sales tax report from the Oklahoma Tax Commission.

While the town of Hennessey saw a slight decrease compared to October 2021, all other county municipalities recorded sizable increases in collections over last year’s numbers.

The October 2022 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from August business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from Aug. 16 to Aug. 3 and estimated sales from Sept. 1 to 15.

The disbursement of $199,464,333 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $15,424,442 from the $184,039,891 distributed to the cities and towns in October last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $32,195,979.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $34,188,368 sales tax disbursement and a $5,908,025 use tax disbursement.
