Murder charge in stabbing death

Jorge Maradiaga-Cruz

The man accused of a stabbing death was charged Tuesday in Kingfisher County District Court.

Jorge Maradiaga-Cruz, 37, was charged with first degree murder in the death of Ruben Jau. Both men are listed from Dover.

Maradiaga-Cruz pleaded not guilty during a court appearance on Thursday.

His next appearance is 3 p.m. Thursday, June 20.

The accused was arrested last Friday night shortly after Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Office deputies found Jau with multiple stab wounds inside a residence in Dover. Kingfisher EMS later pronounced him dead at the scene.

According to a probable cause affidavit signed by Deputy Jason Wiebelt, deputies located a witness who told them Maradiaga- Cruz informed him he had killed someone. The witness said Maradiaga- Cruz was “covered in blood and left the area on foot southbound down the alley,” according to the affidavit.

Another witness told Wiebelt and Deputy Chuck Countryman that she saw a man with cuts on his hands come down the alley and told deputies that man was sitting on the steps of the wash room at the RV park, according to the affidavit.

When deputies approached the subject, later identified as Maradiaga- Cruz, he “stood up and placed his hands behind his back,” according to the affidavit.

“When asked if he was the individual who stabbed the victim, Jorge replied ‘yes sir,’” wrote Wiebelt in the affidavit.

Mariadaga-Cruz remains jailed at the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center. Court document showed no bond was set in his case.
