MUST BE Santa
Plus KEF, KPS and PTO filling teachers’great idea wish lists
Kingfisher Public Schools students at every campus will benefit from “gifts” Santa delivered their teachers this month.
With the help of Kingfisher Public Schools, GO for Public Schools and Heritage Parent Teacher Organization, Kingfisher Educational Foundation and Santa distributed more than $78,000 to fund 44 creative teachers’ classroom enrichment ideas.
That total included just over $29,000 from KPS, $5,205.45 from the GO for Public Schools Education Tax Credit fund, $1,033.96 from Heritage PTO and close to $43,000 from KEF’s annual Duck Race proceeds and other donations.
“We are blessed here in Kingfi sher as a school system to have an organization such as the Kingfi sher Educational Foundation that truly does have the best interest of our students and teachers in mind,” KPS Superintendent David Glover said.
“In my short time I have very much enjoyed the relationship and partnership we have with them and look forward to many more positives in the future.”
From programmable “Bee Bots” to teach computer coding to upper elementary students, a green screen and camcorder to allow high school students to become news broadcasters to restocking the popular book vending machine at Heritage, to new pre-K learning centers at Gilmour, this year’s innovative grants will bring novel classroom experiences to every KPS campus.
“As usual, our board was wowed by the creative and innovative ideas brought to us by KPS teachers,” KEF board member David Blair said.
“Thanks to their dedication, our community’s generosity, and our great partnerships with the school district and other funding sources, we are able to continue adding new and exciting educational opportunities for Kingfisher students year after year.”
