No surprises in Super Tuesday vote
County, state ballots reflect other states as Trump, Biden have big day
Kingfisher County reflected the rest of the state, which reflected much of the rest of the voters across America on Super Tuesday.
Former President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden collected resounding victories during the presidential primary election.
Trump won 15 of 16 states contested on the biggest voting day of the year outside of the actual presidential election in November.
He’s now up to 1,059 delegates, which leapt him toward the 1,215 delegates needed to earn the Republican nomination.
His showing was strong enough for Nikki Haley to suspend her campaign Wednesday.
Haley had 93 delegates after winning Vermont, the only state Trump didn’t win Tuesday.
Biden claimed nearly every delegate up for grabs as well and now has 1,553 of the 1,968 needed to earn the Democrat nomination.
In Oklahoma, Trump garnered 254,688 votes, which was 81.8 percent of the more than 311,000 total votes cast on the Republican side.
Haley was the runner-up with 49,373 (15.9 percent).
Biden grabbed 66,824 of the 91,561 votes by Democrats. That’s good for 72.98 percent.
Marianne Williamson was the runner-up with 8,349 (9.12 percent).
More locally, Trump received 1,413 votes in Kingfisher County, which was 83.4 percent. Haley grabbed 242 (14.3 percent).
There were 1,694 total votes cast by Republicans in the county.
Biden’s race was tighter in the county than it was statewide.
His 108 votes accounted for 54.27 percent of the 199 total votes cast.
Dean Phillips was second with 34, or 17.1 percent.
Trump can seal his nomination in the next two weeks.
A primary on March 12 will include votes in Georgia, Hawaii, Mississippi and Washington.
There are 161 Republican delegates up for grabs in those states, just above the 156 he needs for the nomination.
