The Oklahoma Energy Resources Board hosted recently a first responder training workshop at the OSU Fire Service Training Center in Stillwater.

The workshop was designed to educate firefighters about the best practices in developing a response plan for oil and natural gas sites.

Among those attending were Taylor Farris and Mitch Tollefson of Kingfi sher Fire Department and Stanton Sawyers of Dover Fire Department.

The two-day training was taught by oil and natural gas professionals and OSU Fire Service Training staff.

The course, which was provided at no cost to firefi ghters, mixes a classroom component and with handson live burn exercises.

The training for the course also fulfills the requirements for Firefighter II certification.

“The free training is funded by the people of Oklahoma Oil & Natural Gas as a continued effort to be a good neighbor in communities where we live and work,” said Mindy Stitt, OERB executive director.
