OHS speech 2nd in 3A sweeptstakes at Marlow
Ten members of the Okarche High School speech team traveled recently to the Marlow Invitational Speech Tournament and all 10 returned home with at least one trophy and the second-place sweepstakes trophy in Class 3A.
Senior McKenzie Stewart was tournament champion in original oratory. Emily Neuenschwander, another senior, teamed with junior Emma Stover to place third in humorous duet.
Stover also placed second in poetry.
Four other OHS juniors also competed.
Riley Black was tournament champion in humorous interp with teammate Wyatt Lovins placing second.
Black and her partner Brody Sadler took third in dramatic duet.
Kylie Bailey placed third in monologue.
Sophomore Chloe Goble was tournament champion in prose and Rylie Bomhoff was runner-up in both original oratory and standard oratory.
Freshman Zoe Palmer brought home two trophies: first-place in standard oratory and third-place in prose.
The team is currently working on two short Christmas-themed plays.
“The Elf Extravaganza” will be presented at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, in the OHS Black Box Theatre.
A dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to shortly before the show begins.
