Several members of the Okarche High School speech team have received individual honors in recent weeks.

On Friday, Oct. 22, OHS participated in the Deer Creek One-Act Play Festival.

Three seniors were recognized for their work in Okarche’s play: Kaylea Steelman received one of five awards given to outstanding stage technicians, and McKenzie Stewart and Emily Neuenschwander were named to the all-star cast.

Stewart was named to the all-state play cast on Oct. 30 when Okarche competed in the state oneact play contest at Mustang High School.

Six OHS students placed in individual events at the team’s first speech competition of the year held at Okarche.

Emily Neuenschwander placed first in humorous in-terp and seniors Kenzie Beard and Marley Hill were second in dramatic duet.

Junior Madison Schaefer was second in dramatic interp and Riley Black, another junior, was second in monologue. Zoe Palmer, a freshman, was first in standard oratory and fourth in prose.

Okarche will compete next at the Marlow Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 20.
