Five members of the Okarche speech team traveled to Shattuck and won the second-place sweepstakes trophy at the Shattuck Invitational Speech Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 25.

Every OHS student competing won at least one medal.

Hunter Buck was second in prose and a finalist in domestic extemp.

Maddie Vogt was first in public-forum debate with Anna Shirey, third in foreign extemp, and second in championship standard oratory.

Shirey, in addition to first in public-forum debate with Vogt, was third in domestic extemp and third in championship original oratory.

Afton Shirey was second in dramatic duet with Suzann Smith and a finalist in humorous interp.

Smith was first in poetry, second in dramatic duet with Afton, and a finalist in domestic extemp.

The team will begin preparation for the regional competition in late March.
