Okarche High School’s production of “Property Rites” by Alan Haehnel has advanced the state contest in the OSSAA’s one-act play competition.

The OHS cast and crew earned their spot at state by placing at one of three Class 4A regional competitions last Saturday.

Okarche brought home the second-place plaque from the Leedey regional.

Leedey was the regional champion while Cheyenne took third.

These plays will join oneacts from Alva, Cherokee, Lincoln Christian, Latta, Chandler, and Stratford at Mustang on Nov. 1 in the state competition.

In addition, two Okarche students received all-star play cast honors, a recognition given to the top-10 performances of the day as selected by the judging panel.

Receiving the honor were Kylie Bailey and Jace Rother.

Also in the cast are the following students: Riley Black, Wyatt Lovins, Brody Sadler, Madison Schaefer, Emma Stover, Rylie Bomhoff, Chloe Goble, Reagan Marler, Afton Shirey, Suzann Smith, Zoe Palmer and Harper White.

The technical crew includes Sara Leck, sound technician; Anna Shirey, lighting technician; and Kyle Sadler and Cami White, props.

The students are under the guidance of Lyndal Westmoreland.

This is the 11th consecutive year for Okarche to reach state in one-act play.

Okarche owns five oneact play state championships with the most recent coming in 2018.

The OHS state performances is scheduled to begin at 9:50 a.m.
