Most county towns had decreases in sales tax checks for July, according to the latest Oklahoma Tax Commission release.

However, Okarche showed an increase of 28.5% over its July 2020 check – $63.193.07 compared to $49,165.87 a year earlier.

Like Okarche, Kingfisher County’s sales tax check also showed a robust 80% increase.

Okeene in Blaine County had the largest percentage increase at $151.7% – $79,291.93, up from $31,494.16 in July 2020.

The July 2021 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from May business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from May 16th to 31st and estimated sales from June 1st to the 15th.

The disbursement of $180,270,874 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $17,948,287 from the $162,322,587 distributed to the cities and towns in July last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $25,963,052.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $29,204,262 sales tax disbursement and a $5,016,343 use tax disbursement.

Okarche – $13,166.13 and $12,688.52.

Watonga – $34,660.99 and $17,255.32.

Kingfisher County – $154,805.56 and $61,413.41.

Use tax is collected on products purchased out of state for delivery in the state at entities’ sales tax rates.
