Okarche highlights top students at awards assembly

The awards program for Okarche Junior High and Okarche High School was held on May 8 in which scholarships and other awards were announced.

Alia Suanny, Student Council president, started the assembly with a welcome and flag salute.

Class valedictorians and salutatorians were named.

Parker Schieber and Quinn Schneiter were named as senior class co-valedictorians. Avery Schieber was named as senior class salutatorian.

The eighth grade valedictorians were Blakeley Stephens, Lizzy Schwarz, Chloe Rother, Canon Rother, Reese Robinson, Harrison Mueggenborg, Jacob Henderson, Hartli Ford, Blake Endres and Cy Collamore.

Salutatorians were Evelyn Schroeder and Alli Riedlinger.

The Apron Annie’s HCE Scholarship was presented by Juanita Krittenbrink and MaryNell Brueggen to Zoe Palmer.

Jeff Hyatt from Cimarron Electric Cooperative presented scholarships to Avery Schieber and Alia Suanny. Pistol Pinny’s HCE scholarships were presented to Zoe Palmer and Katy Creswell.

Zoe Palmer was presented the Kingfisher Mercy Auxiliary Scholarship.

Cody Shimanek presented the Ovintiv Scholarship to Avery Schieber and Kylie Harper.

Kayla Jacobs presented the Community National Bank Scholarship to Alia Suanny.

Katie Ward, representing Miss Kingfisher County, presented a scholarship to junior Chesney Black.

G.W. Parham presented the Lions Club scholarships to Avery Schieber, Scout Payne, Quinn Schneiter and Alia Suanny. The Lions Club also recognized the students who were named Junior Lion and Lioness of the Month throughout the school year.

Harper White received recognition from the Daughters of the American Revolution Essay Contest local winner.

Okarche Education Foundation Scholarship recipients were Alia Suanny and Katy Creswell.

Karla Ludwig presented the Catholic Daughters of the Americas scholarship to Zoe Palmer.

The Ray West Memorial Scholarship was presented to Hunter Mueggenborg and Avery Schieber.

Alia Suanny received the Tyler Knecht Memorial Scholarship.

The Lee Brueggen Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Katy Creswell. Quinn Schneiter was the recipient of the Regina Coffey Alig Memorial Scholarship.

The Terry and Raberta Slutz Memorial Scholarship went to Scout Payne. Raberta Dannehl Slutz was a member of OHS Class of 1970.

Kylie Harper received the Mr. Hyman Memorial Scholarship.

Tony Maschino represented the Kingfisher Ma-sonic Lodge by presenting scholarships to Scout Payne, Katy Creswell and Quinn Schneiter.

The Masonic Teacher of Today Award was presented to Lynda Riedlinger. The Masonic Student of Today Award was presented to seniors Hunter Mueggenborg and Alia Suanny.

Seniors were asked to submit any scholarships or awards that they received outside of the counselor’s office. The following scholarships were submitted:

• Scout Payne received the Certificate of Merit from Oklahoma State University,

• Kylie Harper received $2,000 from the Integris Health High School Volunteer Program and The Bronze and Blue Scholarship from the University of Central Oklahoma.

• Zoe Palmer was awarded an $1,800 Deans Tuition Waiver from OSU-OKC.

• Ella Reherman was awarded a scholarship from the Oklahoma Rural Rehabilitation Corp.

• Harper White received the Certificate of Merit from Oklahoma State University.

• Avery Schieber received a $1,000 Academic Excellence Scholarship from Oklahoma State University.

• Quinn Schneiter received the Certificate of Merit Scholarship to Oklahoma State University.

• Katy Creswell received a tuition waiver scholarship from Redlands Community College.

• Alia Suanny received the Bronze and Blue Scholarship from the University of Central Oklahoma.

Universal Scholar is an award for seniors who completed four years of English, four years of math, four years of science, four years of social studies and two years of a foreign language. The following seniors received a Gold Honor Cord to wear at graduation: Brenna Crider, Kylie Harper, Hunter Mueggenborg, Zoe Palmer, Kyle Sadler, Avery Schieber, Parker Schieber, Quinn Schneiter and Alia Suanny.

Oklahoma Honor Society is a yearly award for students ranking in the top 10% GPA for the preceding two semesters for both the high school and junior high.

This award cannot be more than 10% of the total student enrollment. Senior recipients received a certificate and purple honor cords. Underclassmen received a certificate.

This year’s high school recipients were: Seniors - Kylie Harper, Hunter Mueggenborg, Avery Schieber, Parker Schieber, Quinn Schneiter, Alia Suanny.

Juniors - Ally Baustert, Kate Baustert, Belle Beam, Hannah Carnott, Luke Hill, Ethan Kirby, Bri Mollohan, Jett Mueggenborg, Easton Roby, Lane Rother, Maddie Vogt and Andrew Walker.

Sophomores – Henry Austin, Grady Terrell, Cody Stoner, Holden Schieber, Asher Schieber, Kade Henrichs and Gabe Vogt.

Junior high recipients include: Freshman – Cooper Anderson, Jackson Arnold, Grady Krittenbrink, Henry McIlvain, Arron Osborn, Haiden Robinson, Court Sumrall, Austin Walker and Emory West.

Eighth graders – Cy Collamore, Blake Endres, Hartli Ford, Jacob Henderson, Harrison Mueggenorg, Alli Riedlinger, Reese Robinson, Canon Rother, Chloe Rother, Lizzy Schwarz and Blakeley Stephens.

Seventh graders – Collison Black, Bailey Bomhak, Brycen Burns, Samantha England, Jag Mueggenborg, Kate Osborn, Kamryn Schieber, Sutton Terrell, Avery Treece and Tucker White.

National Honor Society inducted the following students: Kade Henrichs, Asher Schieber, Holden Schieber, Cody Stoner, Grady Terrell, Katie Parham, Hudson Mueggenborg, Kayla Kremeier, Henry Austin, Gabe Vogt, Callie Cramer, Abbi Endres, Sandra Woodland, Christian Meyer, Carter Robinson, Samuel Henderson, Chesney Black, Kysen Avila, Garrett England, Ryan Mayo, Emma Alig and Jaci Black.

The following students were recognized for competing at the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Interscholastic Meet in March: Chloe Rother, first in English Usage and first place in Algebra I; Grant Alig, third in American Government and fifth in Music Fundamentals; Ben Weeres, third in Technology Ed II; Boston Kremeier, 11th in Microsoft Office & Word and 10th in Oklahoma History; Maddie Vogt, second in Trigonometry, eighth in Chemistry and eighth in English Literature; Henry Austin, fifth in American History and fifth in Music Fundamentals; Gabe Vogt, second in Advanced Music Theory, ninth in Algebra II; Cody Stoner first in Biology I, first in Algebra II and second in Geography; Sandra Woodland, first in Spanish I; McKenna Sadler, sixth in Spanish II; Christopher Uscanga, first in Native Spanish II; Lizzy Schwarz, fourth in Algebra I; Andrew Walker, sixth in Chemistry and seventh in Trigonometry; Jackson Arnold, first in Geometry, first in Electricity/Electronics, third in General Science and ninth in Anatomy; Arron Osborn, second in Civics, second in World History and eighth in English Usage; Haiden Robinson, second in Geometry and sixth in General Science.

Okarche earned the Math Sweepstakes Award in its division.

Teachers presented the following students classroom awards: Brandon Treece presented Arron Osborn the Oklahoma History Award.

Hunter Frisby presented the Spanish I Award to Sandra Woodland, Jackson Arnold and Arron Osborn; Spanish II awards to Danielle Darst, Gabe Vogt, McKenna Sadler and Abbie Endres.

Ryan Beaman presented Sandra Woodland the class award for Computer Applications and Julia Zaragoza for seventh grade computers.

Jenny Parham awarded Geometry to Austin Walker and Hudson Mueggenborg, Seventh Grade Math to Julia Zaragoza and Carson Wright, General Business to Jaylan Candy-Fire and pre-algebra to Aldo Franco.

Robert Ford presented Psychology to Zoe Palmer, Seventh Grade English to Sutton Terrell and Avery Treece, Yearbook to Bri Mollohan, Seventh Grade Reading to Kate Osborn, Sutton Terrell, Jag Mueggenborg, Samantha England, Kamryn Schieber and Avery Treece.

Jackie Radford presented the following Family and Consumer Sciences Awards: Sandra Woodland, FCS Basics; Kennedy Arnold, Human Growth & Development; Cami White, Human Growth & Development; Katy Creswell, Adulting 101; Andy Hill, Leadership Management; Briley Alig, School to Work Partnership; Jaylan Candy-Fire, honorable mention, Total School-to-Work hours.

Jim Schwarz presented Algebra I Awards to Chloe Rother and Lizzy Schwarz, Algebra II Award to Gabe Vogt, Pre-Calculus Award to Easton Roby, Calculus Award to Parker Schieber; Halli Ford presented Art Awards to Brycen Burns, Susan Regan, and Brianna Mollohan; G.W. Parham presented U.S. History Awards to Sam Henderson, Gabe Vogt and Henry Austin. Also, Julie Rother presented Science Awards to the following students: Physical Science to Grady Krittenbrink, Jackson Arnold and Arron Osborn; Anatomy & Physiology Awards to Avery Schieber and Alia Suanny; Biology Awards to Gabe Vogt, Callie Cramer and Cody Stoner.

Aaron West presented Sutton Terrell the first hour World Geography Award and the second hour World Geography Awards to Samantha England, Kamryn Schieber and Avery Treece, the Economic Award to Andrew Walker, Financial Literacy Awards to Easton Roby, Andrew Walker and Addison Mingus.

Janet Pennington presented Outstanding Geometry Student to Arron Osborn, Outstanding Seventh Grade Math Student to Kate Osborn and Outstanding Seventh Grade Math Student to Sutton Terrell.

T.J. Harris presented the following awards, Outstanding English II Student to Sandra Woodland, Outstanding English III Student to Andrew Walker, Outstanding English IV Student to Wager Black, Most Improved in English IV to Jaylan Candy-Fire, Outstanding Female Speech Student to Zoe Palmer, Outstanding Male Speech Student to Jaylan Candy-Fire, Speech Newcomer of the Year to Colin Stover.

Bob Barnett presented Chemistry Awards to Maddie Vogt, Hannah Carnott, Jett Mueggenborg, Andrew Walker and Easton Roby. The Physics Award went to Parker Schieber.

Larry Black presented Sociology Awards to Zoe Palmer and Macki Suanny, World History Awards to Grady Krittenbrink, Jackson Arnold, Arron Osborn and Court Sumrall.

Lynda Riedlinger presented English I Awards to Lawson Geheb and Arron Osborn; Eighth Grade English to Blake Endres, Chloe Rother and Jake Henderson; Eighth Grade Reading to Chloe Rother, Carly Rother and Lizzy Schwarz.

Kimberly Givens presented the following awards: Seventh Grade Science to Sutton Terrell and Avery Treece; Eighth Grade Science to Chloe Rother, Reese Robinson and Harrison Mueggenborg; Forensic Science class awards to Violet Lawrence, Colin Hendrickson and Kaytlin Steelman.

Adam Wilczek recognized the state qualifiers in Robotics: Belle Schwarz, Boston Kremeier, Jackson Arnold, Ben Weeres, Addison Mingus, Colin Stover, Adelynn Johnson, Parker Schieber, Hayden Wittrock, Cody Stoner and Wager Black.
