Okarche speech team competes at 3A state
Multiple members were finalists and the team brought home an academic honor when Okarche High School took part in the Class 3A state speech tournament.
The squad placed fourth in the entire class and received the Academic Achievement Award at the end of the two-day event held April 13-14 at Rose State College in Midwest City.
A majority of Okarche’s team taking part in state boasts a grade point average of 3.7 or higher.
In competition, senior Chloe Goble was a state finalist in humorour interpretation and placed fourth in monologue.
Zoe Palmer, junior, was a finalist in her event, dramatic interpretation.
The team is coached by T.J. Harris.
“The team has come a long way this year,” Harris said. “It was a great honor for the team to attend state. Though this is the end of their season for this school year, we hope to return next year.”
