That one cool autumn day...

By

Cooler weather made an appearance locally Thursday, the first day of fall.

The high temperature reading in Kingfisher on reached only 76 degrees after highs of 101 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis at the National Weather Service.

The local forecast calls for highs in the mid-90s Saturday and Sunday with a forecast of 86 degrees Monday and 88 degrees Tuesday.

The forecast held no immediate promise of moisture, which is badly needed for pastures, crops and the imminent arrival of sowing season for small grain crops.

The USDA’s agricultural statistics service Drought Monitor Report said Oklahoma drought conditions rated 100% abnormally dry to exceptional drought, unchanged from the previous week.

Additionally, 97 percent of the state was in the moderate drought to exceptional drought category.
