The attraction that brings thousands of visitors to Kingfisher every year begins this weekend.

And it’s getting bigger. Kingfisher Winter Nights - the Christmas lights spectacular that lights up Kingfisher Park - will have its opening ceremony this Saturday, Nov. 30.

The ceremony begins at 6 p.m. and will include the lighting of the Norwegian spruce tree that towers near the entrance of the park.

The tree was delivered to its temporary home earlier this month from Michigan and is just one of many attractions of KWN this year.

The opening ceremony will include an address by City Manager Jim Thomas as well as a performance by the Kingfisher High School choir.

Santa Clause will be in attendance. Three different food trucks will also be staged near the park’s entrance.

Those wanting to attend can park across State Highway 33 at the former Hitchin’ Post 33.

There will be people on hand to help ensure visitors can safely cross the highway before and after the ceremony.

Once the park is officially opened, it will remain so until Dec. 28.

KWN hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Train rides through the park will be available for the duration except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Train rides are $5.

KWN will also be selling keepsake ornaments this year.
