Operation Christmas Child volunteers are hosting two identical Project Leader Workshops on Saturday, Sept. 10. One workshop is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Kingfisher First Baptist Church, 1340 S. 13th St.

The other is from 10 a.m. to noon at Yukon Church, 11715 NW 10th St.

The workshops are open to anyone who packs shoeboxes or is interested in packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.

The Samaritan’s Purse project Operation Christmas Child collects shoebox gifts filled with fun toys, school supplies and hygiene items. “Theyarethendelivered to children in need around the world to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way,” said Debra Roberts, an area coordinator for the project.

Local churches and organizations throughout Oklahoma pack thousands of shoeboxes each year and deliver them to drop-off locations throughout the metro area during National Collection Week.

This year’s collection week is Nov. 14-21.

Free Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes will be given to those who attend one of the workshops on Sept. 10.
