Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Logan County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation of a fatal shooting early Friday morning.

Logan County dispatch received a 911 call at 2:30 a.m. Friday from a homeowner reporting he had shot an intruder inside his home on Backhaus Road near Guthrie.

The homeowner reported he heard multiple people breaking into the home, retrieved his gun and fired in the direction of the intruders.

After firing shots, the homeowner called 911 and Logan County deputies responded to the scene, according to an OSBI news release.

Upon arrival, deputies found a female with gunshot wounds, who died at the scene.

The other person or persons who allegedly broke into the home left after hearing the gunshots, according to the release.

No one is in custody and the homeowner is cooperating with investigators, the OSBI said.

Neither the alleged intruder nor the homeowner were named in the OSBI news release.
